FIRST COLONIAL
HIGH SCHOOL

Class of 1978

Welcome to your official FCHS Class of 1978 Website
- Source of Information for the Class Database & Directory -

During a "hugely successful" 30th Reunion Weekend in July 2008, many class members, teachers, coaches and friends expressed
a desire to reconnect with one another as the bonds of friendship (some going back as far as elementary school) were affirmed.

Much of the credit for the success of the alumni weekend went to the 12 classmates on the Reunion Committee.
They deserved it.  By all accounts, it was a "Class Act," and one for which the entire Class of 1978 can be grateful.

Following our 30th Reunion Weekend of events, even more pervasive, was the overwhelming interest
in the maintenance of an active class database and the dissemination of a published class directory.

Part of the organization process included locating class members for whom we had no current contact information.

Beginning with 482 senior yearbook entries, the list grew to nearly 650 with the addition of information
from previous reunion booklets and the official "First Colonial High School Alumni Directory," published in 1997 by the
Bernard C. Harris Publishing Company.  The number of names for which the Class had no data also grew with these additions.

So, what began as the effort of a few, devoted classmates hoping to find more people to invite, resulted in the invitation
of about 150 more class members (and about 30 teachers and coaches) to the "1978 Patriots" alumni reunion.

Today your Directory Committee has a new Mission

(1) to contact every classmate and teacher in order to update and verify information on file;
(2) to search for and "recover" missing classmates, teachers and "Friends of the Class;"
(3) to produce and publish directories as requested and make them available in print or via email; and
(4) to research and develop a technologically-appropriate, privacy-respecting and self-maintaining Class Database.

We welcome any suggestions you may have or assistance you can offer as we move with the Class into the future.

If all goes according to the greatest of expectations, members of the Class may be able to have their directories in time

for the 2008 holiday season, and as often as demand dictates, well into our future decades of alumni events together.
